computing and digital learning
At Naima JPS, technology is integrated throughout the curriculum to enhance learning. We want to prepare our children for a rapidly-changing technological world and we achieve this through a varied and creative Computing curriculum. We also recognise the application of technology across the curriculum, especially within the STEM disciplines: science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Our Computing curriculum is woven across three strands:
Digital Creativity provides children with the opportunity to apply and develop their digital skills within a range of contexts. For example, in Year 1 children have been exploring Pointillism and have applied their skills to create Pointillism artwork portraying the sunflower.
Computer Science involves the use and application of coding and programming skills. Children across the school - from Reception to Year 6 - regularly develop their coding and programming skills. Most recently, children in Reception have used the Code-a-pillar app to use commands to construct algorithms.
.
Digital Literacy is crucial for using technology appropriately, effectively and responsibly. How the children use technology is integral to their digital awareness, literacy and resilience, and ultimately their success.
Technology also forms part of our STEAM provision. Please see examples of STEAM learning throughout the school.
