We are the Digital Leaders at Naima JPS and we are proud to introduce our new blog aimed at sharing all of our latest news with the school community and beyond!
Let’s take a look at the incredible things that have taken place so far this term.
At the start of the term, Pre-Nursery were really excited to learn about the changing of the seasons and Winter! They created an amazing display which included painting an umbrella with vibrant colours to amaze anyone visiting the school who saw it!
Reception had a great week celebrating Tu B'Shevat recently. They focused on the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, before growing their own cress! In their Art lessons, they created their own garden and forest pictures and also decorated a flower using different kinds of beans. They have also been learning about directional commands in Computing and have been programming robots to follow their algorithms!
The children also enjoyed reading the story of Cinderella. They had fun activities planned all week, before getting the opportunity to dress up as Princes and Princesses whilst learning ballroom dance. They iced mouth-watering biscuits and had afternoon tea to end their spectacular day!
Year 1 children have been incredibly busy and hard at work researching famous explorers and trying to solve the case of Tom’s lost dad, last seen in Antarctica. They have also been acting out the Parasha by pretending to split the sea. In Maths they have learnt to halve numbers - some of the children even did numbers up to 100! In Science, the children have been using cookies to demonstrate the different phases of the moon!
Year 2 children have been busy writing their own alliterative animal poems. Here are some of their amazingly alliterative titles: Terrific Twos Toiling Together, Amazing Animal Alliteration and Clever clogs creating classy compositions. Year 2 children have also been thinking about ways they can unwind after feeling stressed.
In Year 3, the children have been researching different types of rocks. They have studied metamorphic, igneous and sedimentary rocks carefully and have written all about them in their Science learning! The children have also been learning about Greek Mythology and mythical creatures in their English learning.
In Year 4, the children have been learning more about their teeth by constructing a model of their own teeth showing their incisors, canines, premolars and molars. They have learnt about how to keep their teeth healthy. In Art, the children have been inspired to create artwork in the style of Pablo Picasso and these are now on display in the school foyer.
In Year 5, the children have been inspired to capture photographs in the style of Man Ray. In Science, they have loved investigating different materials by testing their properties for flexibility, permeability, transparency and magnetism, along with testing their solubility!
In Year 6, the children have explored Python coding using Minecraft Education. They have learnt about coding concepts such as conditionals and used and applied their learning to problem solve. In keeping with the recent festivities surrounding Chinese New Year, the children were inspired to create their own tessellation designs. In Science, Year 6 children have been learning about electrical circuits and have been experimenting and investigating removing and adding electrical components.
Boys in Years 6 and 5 have been training hard for their 5 aside football tournament. They have trained hard and performed to their very best. They are determined to continue working hard to improve.
Girls in Years 5 and 6 have also been training hard, getting to the finals of the Maccabi Tournament in Trent Park. The girls faced fierce competition in Rosh Pinah. It was a tense match and they did very well to achieve the result they had. They continue to train hard for upcoming tournaments and we look forward to sharing their future successes with you!
We were all very proud to raise money for Jnetics - a charity dedicated to improving the prevention and management of Jewish genetics disorders in the UK. In total we raised £297!
